A statement from the charity Action to Hearing Loss highlighted a great injustice to people who are deaf or hard of hearing when accessing healthcare. Many have noticed that they require the assistance of a third party as an interpreter when arranging and even attending the appointments. This is due to the fact that they are forced to make appointments via telephone instead of being able to text or email and they are unable to communicate effectively with the medical practitioner.
