About Soteria Network – Promoting humane, non-coercive mental health services

Who We Are

We are a network of people from different perspectives and backgrounds who share the common ideal of promoting the Soteria tradition in the UK – a tradition that offers humane, noncoercive therapeutic help with little or no use of medication.

Soteria’s philosophy is based on the belief that it’s possible for people to make sense of and come through psychosis and severe distress, through a compassionate approach involving ‘being with’ rather than ‘doing to’ them.

More information about Soteria UK can be found at www.soterianetwork.org.uk including the history of Soteria Network and current research.
