Southampton Guildhall is to be turned into a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination centre on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July 2021.
Anyone over the age of 18 will be able to walk in to the iconic city venue and grab their first COVID-19 jab. No advance booking is needed.
A local team of clinicians, health staff and volunteers will be on site to vaccinate thousands of people from 9.30am to 7.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
The NHS is calling on all adults to get the COVID-19 vaccine and encourage their friends and family to get vaccinated too.
NHS staff are pulling out all the stops to vaccinate as many people as possible. With every person vaccinated, we are one step closer to our summer freedoms.
Four in five adults in England have now received their first dose of the jab, and with three in five already fully vaccinated after receiving two doses.

Dr Debbie Chase, Director of Public Health at Southampton City Council, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity to grab your jab and protect yourself against COVID this summer. Anyone who has not yet had their first dose of the vaccine can come and be vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccine keeps you and others safe, and I ask everyone in Southampton to spread the word to get more people vaccinated.”

- Can I just walk-in?
Yes! There is no need to book in advance. Anyone over the age of 18 can come in to receive their first dose of the vaccine.
- Will I need to queue?
Maybe, but we will have a big team on site to help keep queueing to a minimum.
- Do I need to be registered with a local GP, know my NHS number or provide proof of address?
No, none of this is required.
- Will the vaccine give me COVID?
The vaccine itself cannot give you COVID-19 or cause you to test positive for COVID-19. As with all vaccines, there is still a small chance that you could catch COVID-19 after being vaccinated, but it is far less likely. Getting the vaccine is the best way to protect yourself from COVID-19 and its unpleasant long term effects.
- Will I feel any side effects?
The vaccine can cause some side effects, but not everyone gets them. Any side effects are usually mild and should not last longer than a week, such as:
a sore arm from the injection
feeling tired
a headache
feeling achy
feeling or being sick
More serious side effects, such as allergic reactions or blood clotting, are very rare.
- I am pregnant, can I be vaccinated?
Yes, you can get vaccinated against COVID-19 if you’re aged 18 or over and you’re pregnant or think you might be. The vaccine cannot give you or your baby COVID-19.
- Will this be open all weekend?
The Guildhall will be open from 9.30 on Saturday 10 July and Sunday 11 July. The site will close in the early evening.
- Where can I park?

- How can I prove I have been vaccinated?
The easiest way to prove you have been vaccinated is by downloading the NHS App. you must be registered with a GP surgery in England to use the app.
