The University of Southampton has been awarded a £140 million contract from the Department of Health, spread over the next nine years, to help fund the National Institute for Health Research Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC). The centre, based in the University of Southampton’s science park, funds health research programmes across the country. Their research programmes vary from helping patients with dementia at home or in care homes to exploring the cost effectiveness of sign language in psychological therapies. Various members of the medical faculty in the University of Southampton and the centres’ employees welcome the funding.
